History of Haliburton Dance Academy

Established in 1996

Established in 1996, Haliburton Dance Academy was originally Haliburton Dance Arts founded by Terri Mathews well-loved member of the community. In 2012 the studio was passed on to her student Chyna Schell and became Haliburton Dance Academy.

As of June 1st, 2014, the studio location moved into a beautiful, bright new space at the old Victoria Street School. This new space fits all of our growing needs where we are able to offer classes in jazz, ballet, tap, acrobatics, pointe, musical theatre, lyrical, hip hop & more at both recreational & competitive levels.

At HDA, our philosophy is to build confidence & passion for dance first. Once a strong foundation of love for dance is built, the technique will naturally follow. Encouragement and positivity is what our studio is built on and we pass this along to each of our students. We take pride in being a safe place to express yourself and be whomever you choose to be. With classes for ages 18 months-99 years, we have something for everyone.
