Haliburton Dance Academy
Encouragement and positivity are what our studio is built on and we pass this along to each of our students.
Ballet for all ages
Why Choose Ballet?
Ballet is the foundation of all dance disciplines. It shows students how to enhance alignment, flexibility, posture and strength. The technique required gives a solid foundation for all other styles of dance to build on. Students are required to be precise, graceful and have passion.
What is Acro Dance?
Acro is a genre of dance which seamlessly fuses elements of lyrical gymnastics tricks, balancing, tumbling, and jazz.
Students learn Acrobatic tricks such as handstands, cartwheels, chest stands, elbow stands, walkovers, side and front aerials, and tumbling lines. Syllabus used at HDA is Acrobatic Arts. A well known and established syllabus in Cirque Du Soleil and around the world.
Why Choose Jazz?
In a Jazz class, the dancers learn many fun and trendy dance steps that are used for all forms of dance. It is a wonderful class to get a well-rounded variety of all dance steps. Jazz includes strength, flexibility and conditioning technique with progressions including turns, kicks and leaps.
What is Hip Hop?
Hip Hop is one of the most popular and familiar forms. Unlike most dance styles, hip hop was developed without a formal structure and was not created in a studio, a hip hop dancer only needs a natural sense of rhythm and practice, rather than formal training, to become skilled in the style.
Why Choose Tap?
Tap dancing can be considered a form of music in its own right. Dancers use tap shoes as a form of percussion by rhythmically tapping their toes and heels. Not only are you moving your feet, but you must also ensure that your entire body is performing as well.
What is Lyrical?
Lyrical dance is an expressive style of dance performed to music with lyrics to inspire movements to express strong feelings and emotions through movement. It incorporates certain elements of ballet, modern dance, and jazz.
Why Choose Musical Theatre?
Very fun and popular for the dancer who loves to be on stage. We use Broadway-themed songs along with plays and concepts you see on Broadway or at local theatres. It is a fantastic way to feel like you are in the theatre without having to sing or act.
What is Tumbling?
Tumbling class teaches the fundamentals of floor gymnastic moves using strength, coordination, dedication, and artistry. This is a very popular class that is designed for the dancer with 3+ years of Acro experience. Students will learn many variations of tumbling moves and Acro tricks.

Competitive Dance Team dancing to the max.
At HDA we teach students to work on their technique and dance from their heart. The importance is not how we look when we dance, or how many turns we can do the most important thing is passion. Encouraging students to love the way they move and believe in themselves brings them self-confidence and pride. Dance offers more than just physical benefits it instills musicality, discipline, patience and grace. Added to this are the incredible components any extra-curricular activity will teach our children; time management, teamwork, discipline, emotional release, respect, responsibility, good sportsmanship and the list goes on.
