After receiving a beautiful gallery of photos taken by @daniellemeredithphoto of our last recital before closing our doors, I felt ready to create our last post. Below are the words that I spoke at the end of our show on Sunday, June 19. 🤍

“It isn’t that I’m happy you’re sad, but I am so happy this space meant so much to you. The fact that HDA was a home and a space for you to find who you are and express yourself, tells me that I did my job. Ten years ago when I took over the studio, it was my dream to pass along my passion for dance and continue on the sense of home and family Terri and Carrie had established for me and so many others. The emotions I have seen and felt this weekend are proof to me that my dream came true.”

HDA has been who I am for 26 of my 33 years. It will forever give me a sense of home when I reflect on it.

Thank you. Thank you for filling my life with pride and sparkles, in so many more ways than one.

With a heavy heart, I am announcing that Haliburto

With a heavy heart, I am announcing that Haliburton Dance Academy will be closing its doors at the end of this year’s recital weekend. It was a difficult decision to make, but for many reasons what is best for myself and my family.

It has been a wonderful 26 years and I can honestly say that HDA built who I am in a huge way and I know many others feel the same. The past ten years of being Director have been fuelled by passion, and I have zero regrets.

I am in love with this company and my dancers, and saying goodbye will be incredibly hard and emotional.

Haliburton Dance Academy would not be what it is or where it is today without the support of our community, and I would like to take a moment to express sincere gratitude.

I invite you to be present through our annual dance showcase next weekend if you plan to attend. Enjoy the wonderful energy, both physical and emotional, being emitted from the stage. It is all so genuine and wonderful, and personally, I will remember it forever.

We are so proud of all of our dancers who joined us at this past weekend’s Dance Canada competition in Blue Mountain, Collingwood. The emotions were running high as we watched our beautiful, hard working dancers hit the stage for the first time together since before the pandemic ✨

Your patience, perseverance and passion shone very brightly under those stage lights dancers and we love you all so much ♥️
